Hillsong United...Awesome!

Last Wednesday night, i drove an entourage consisting of my brother, cousin, good friend and a colleague to my church for Hillsong United's concert. It was jointly organized by Youth Alive Malaysia and Glad Tidings Assembly of God (my church).

When we entered the hall, it was as if we just stepped into a rock concert hall! There were laser beams, mists, thousands of people and lotsa cheering and jumping. Hillsong United actually belongs to the Youth Ministry of the Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia. After a 1998 Summer Camp revival, the worship team of the Youth Ministry began writing songs, and since they released their first album a year later, they have released an album every year. They also host Youth Conferences and an annual event called "Encounterfest" when the Hillsong United youth ministries unite for an encounter of God and record their Live albums.

I first heard of Hillsong United when a good friend, Tim, uploaded an amazing song called "From the Inside Out" in a website in the Fall of 2006. The moment i heard the introduction with the guitar strumming to a superb melody, i just got hooked to the song and had to listen to it a couple of times before going to bed every night for the next few months!

And of course, when Hillsong United played "From the Inside Out" that night, i just melted!! It's such a powerful and amazing song. Even my cousin who has yet to accept Christ, was enjoying the worship time. I guess she probably would never have guessed that Christian songs can be so upbeat! :-)

Even though i still had to labour through work after i got home around midnight, time at the 2.5 hour concert was definitely well spent! I definitely miss going for large Christian events such as the Sonshine Musical Festival, and Urbana Christian conference!!
